Heading out to Malaysia and want to know where the best hotel to stay in Kuala Lumpur is?
This TAMU Hotel & Suites luxury hotel review will give you all the details about the newest four-star property in town.
Is it the best view hotel in Kuala Lumpur? Or are you better off looking at other properties instead?
Let’s dive right in.
Tamu Hotel and Suites Review
There are tons of 4-star hotels and 5-star properties available in Kuala Lumpur. We decided on Tamu Hotel because of 3 reasons:
- The hotel offers mesmerizing views of the Petronas Twin Towers + Kuala Lumpur Tower, so it’s one of the best hotels with a view in the city. Not to mention, Tamu also has an awesome infinity pool with KL’s skyline in the background.
- Breakfast buffet available 🙂 It’s always hard to choose something from breakfast, so having a breakfast buffet is a great way to start the day.
- The hotel should be affordable and value-for-money, which Tamu Hotel was.
Actually, it was cheaper when we booked Tamu Hotel and Suites using Agoda. You can save tons of cash!
You can see below to find out how you can book Tamu Hotels in KL for a more affordable price too.
Price – 4-star Hotel in KL for Less
What if I told you that you can get a hotel with gorgeous views of famous Petronas Twin Towers + infinity pool that gives you Kuala Lumpur’s skyline + tasty buffet breakfast – all for less than 80 USD/night?
You’d probably tell me “That’s impossible, Lianne.”
I thought the same way, too.
Until Tamu Hotel came along and made me fall in love with Kuala Lumpur over and over again.
If you book your stay via Agoda, your stay at Tamu Hotel for 3 nights and 4 days will only total to ₱9,000+.
It’s amazingly cheap, considering that you already get free breakfast buffet from the hotel + awesome views + access to a fantastic infinity pool.
If you book directly from the hotel, your 3-night stay at Tamu Hotel will cost MYR RM 876.09, which is around ₱10,990.
That’s a difference of ₱1,941!

Tamu Hotel Location
Located in Kampong Bharu, this 4-star business and luxury hotel is a mere 5-10 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur’s most famous local attractions, dining establishments and historical sites.
Here are some KL tourist spots near Tamu Hotel:
- Menara Kuala Lumpur – 1.2 km
- Petronas Twin Towers – 1.2 km
- KLCC – Bukit Bintang Pedestrian Walkway – 1.6 km
- Aquaria KLCC – 1.6 km
- KLCC Park – 1.6 km
Since the popular tourist spots are near the hotel, you can even save more money and get a little bit of sunshine by walking towards your destination.
Arrival and Check-in
After alighting from the car, we were immediately approached by the hotel’s bellboy who assisted us with our luggage. +A for initiative!
This small gesture means a lot to the guests: from the beginning, you’d already feel the welcoming Malaysian hospitality that Tamu Hotel & Suites promises.
I’m also happy to say that check-in process was efficient. I especially loved how the receptionist said “Magandang umaga” to me after finding out I’m from the Philippines. 🙂
Tamu Hotel Room
If you book your stay via Agoda, your stay at Tamu Hotel for 3 nights and 4 days will only total to ₱9,000+.
You can use this extra money to save towards another country, like going to Thailand. Or you can even add it towards your emergency fund or travel fund for other countries in the future.
During check-in, we were informed that we’re fortunate enough to stay at the room that offers an exquisite view of both the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Tower. Needless to say, my excitement doubled.
The room that Tamu Hotels gave had the following:
- 1 king bed
- Room size: 50 m²/538 ft²
- City view
- Non-smoking
- Shower and bathtub
- Free Wi-Fi
After going up to the 21st floor and entering the door, this view took my breath away.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. You can wake up from this view for less, and it didn’t even need to cost that much?
I can already imagine myself doing my favorite activities here: working, meditating and journaling, and even sleeping! 🙂
Plus, the decor was an absolute favorite of mine: modern with a hint of minimalism. The room was U-shaped to make the most out of the view. There’s a work station, a lovely bathroom and a warm & relaxing aura all over.
Since I work online, how’s the wifi status?
Wi-fi is complimentary. It’s moderately fast so it’s a great help with working on my online businesses.
Both sides of the bed had power sockets, so it was convenient — also great for me, since one of the requirements to be considered as a best hotel to stay in KL is to have available power sockets within arm’s reach!
Did I love the bed?
Absolutely. Sleeping on the king-sized bed was an absolute bliss.
It was very comfortable and if I were given the chance, I’d love to lay on the bed whole day.

Tamu Hotel – Amazing Infinity Pool
Even though I loved staying in bed, I made sure to wake up early so I can enjoy the swimming pool that Tamu Hotel & Suites has to offer. I’ll let this picture speak for itself.
Be sure to come here early so you can get shots as the sun rises.
Perhaps it would be better if a lifeguard was present as well?
Regardless, the infinity pool is my favorite spot at this hotel.
Dining at Tamu Hotel – Suasana @ 27
Located on level 27, Suasana @ 27 gave us one of the most welcoming and filling dinners of our lives. Fortunately, we visited Tamu Hotel around the season of Ramadan, so we were able to enjoy their Dinner Buffet.
Honestly, we were impressed with their food selection.
Special highlight should be given to their satay station – extremely tasty and juicy!
I’m also a fan of their juice selections, particularly the soybean milk variety.
And the best we had that night?
Their cakes, most specially their red velvet cake, are perfect.
Believe me, after travelling extensively and covering luxury hotels & afternoon tea all over the world, I’ve had my fair share of desserts.
And Tamu Hotel & Suites’ Red Velvet cake is definitely the top one on my list.
Breakfast Buffet at Tamu Hotel
After lounging around the pool, you can spend the rest of your morning eating breakfast at Suasana @ 27.
As a pretty relaxed affair, the food selection is moderate, and the flavor of everything we’ve eaten was extremely satisfying.
To give you energy for your travels, load up on their fried rice and sausages combo.
If not, you can always have pastry to fill you up. 🙂
Final Thoughts on Tamu Hotel
Would I stay here again?
Definitely. Given the value for money aspect, convenience and even the central location that the hotel has to offer, I’d stay here again once I get back to Kuala Lumpur.
Is it the best hotel to stay in Kuala Lumpur?
Yes, I can say without a doubt that Tamu Hotel and Suites in Malaysia is the best hotel to stay in Kuala Lumpur.
Most hotels in Kuala Lumpur that can give you an astounding view of Petronas Tower will require a nightly cost of $200 USD or more, so Tamu Hotel’s price range is definitely a blessing.
It’s affordable, it’s convenient and it’s central – definitely a luxury hotel for less.
Honestly, I tell all my family and friends to book hotels via Agoda because you actually save more (according to my friend who works in a 5-star hotel!) 🙂
And this is true.
As you saw above, it’s cheaper if you book Tamu Hotel via Agoda instead of direct.
