Stay Focused on What Really Matters To YOU: Ask Yourself This

When everything and everyone seems to demand your attention and suck the energy out of you, it’s hard to stay focused.

For the past few weeks, I couldn’t sleep properly.

I’ve tried drinking warm milk, turning off the lights, listening to relaxing music, meditating and even exercising a few hours before my bed time just so I could expect sleep to welcome me into her arms.

But she never came whole-heartedly. I would sleep for an hour, wake up for three hours and then go back to sleep once again.

I think the main reason for this is because I have a lot of things on my plate right now – writing, speaking, listening, presenting, travelling, investing, email responding, re-branding and even enrolling.

I’d close my eyes and try, but then a blog post idea comes up!

I’d force my eyes shut but then I’d mistakenly check my messages and reply.

I’d yawn but then I’d remember a concept I’d like to include in my next speaking engagement.

It wasn’t until we visited Heritage Park today that I felt my soul being cleansed.

How do your loved ones perceive you?

Generous? Loving? Inspiring? Funny?

Or cut-throat, harsh and barely together with the family?

You’re still alive.

Every day is a brand new page of your life. You can write on it based on what you want, and based on what you really prioritize.

Your parents aren’t getting any younger. Spend time with them. Make them laugh. Tell them how you love them – spoil them, even. (Set aside a humble amount for their retirement also. You’re not obligated to, of course, but if you want, then by all means, go!)

Your body isn’t getting any better. So maybe skip that deep-fried chicken for now and load up on fruits and veggies instead? (I’m talking to myself!)

Your days won’t repeat themselves. So live in the moment and enjoy what life has to offer!

Let go of the past so you can make room for the future.

Enjoy the present.

But prepare for the future wisely. :

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much your net worth is or how many countries you’ve travelled to: what matters is how many lives you’ve inspired and how many smiles you’ve caused along the way.

When everything’s done and only judgement is waiting for you, how do you want to be remembered by the people who matter to you?
