Mango Tree at Bonifacio High Street, BGC (Food Review)

Thai restaurant Mango Tree located in Bonifacio High Street Central, Taguig, has recently joined the Christmas menu launching bandwagon. Last November 29, The Wise Living, along with prominent media figures, was invited by Mango Tree to sample three of its Christmas menu items.

Mango Tree interior in BHS Central. It was crowded!

Upon arrival, hospitable attendants addressed my thirst and gave me their best-selling Thai Iced Tea. Entering the establishment truly transfers you to Thailand because of its Thai interiors. Mango Tree prides itself as a casual dining restaurant capable of seating 180 people.

Thai Iced Tea of Mango Tree.

The Thai Iced Tea was exquisitely refreshing. It had a nice balance of bittersweet taste that I wanted to order another one, if ever. What piqued my interest, however, is another drink they called Thai Chili Mojito. Too bad I wasn’t able to try it, though. Chris, a newly made friend, said it tasted intensely subtle so I think balance was again the key for this concoction.

Chili Mojito – how original!

Now, onto the Christmas dishes!
The first dish served was called See Krong (grilled ribs). This dish was ultimately my favorite. It was sweet with a hint of spice from coriander. I could also explicitly taste the honey used for the creation of this dish so it was juicy.

See Krong was just sumptuous!
Next was the roasted beef tenderloin (Nua Ob). The sight of this dish was appetizing and the texture was just right. The red and green chili strips are a nice addition to the aesthetics of the dish. Although this dish didn’t really give me an astounding experience in terms of taste, we Filipinos still eat with our eyes so the presentation made up for it.

Nua Ob – truly a sight to behold!
The last Mango Tree Christmas menu item was the aptly named Lobster. Don’t let the naming issue tick you off, though, Mango Tree’s Lobster gave my taste buds a culinary explosion due to the combination of coconut milk and red curry paste, among others. It’s a definite hit to Filipinos who delight in ample meat covered in spicy sauce. Order this as a part of your Noche Buena.

Mango Tree Lobster – a definite Filipino favorite.
As a sweet ending to the meal, we were offered panna cotta, Thai-style. This creation was lightly sweet and discreetly creamy. I loved how subtle its taste was.

Thai panna cotta was mini-sized – good for me!
If you’re new to Mango Tree, feel free to try some of their best-sellers like Gaeng Phed Ped Yang, Panang Kae, Phad Thai Goong and Kae Yang, among others.

Mango Tree was able to give me a wonderful Thai experience, so if you want to try “Thai cuisine at its best…”, drop by Mango Tree in BHS Central some time.
