9 Steps on How to Make Mushroom Soup

Check out our family’s recipe of a mushroom soup in today’s post!

Every person has their own version of comfort foods. While some may indulge themselves in the luxury of dark chocolate, other people believe that strawberries should be their comfort food. 

What exactly is a comfort food? A comfort food is basically something that has a sentimental appeal to the person eating it. It may be something that can remind you fond memories, or something that can make you think that the world is a better place after all. 

My comfort food is mushroom soup. It’s so soft and yummy that eating it can instantly make me feel better already!

Well, taking My Bucket List in mind, I decided that I do want to be able to make my comfort food from scratch.

This is the recipe: 

– 1 lb. of fresh mushrooms
– 2 small onions diced
– 1/4 cup of butter
– 2 tablespoons of flour
– 2 cups of evaporated milk
– 2 cups of water

– salt and pepper to taste

1. Gather and prepare your ingredients. They won’t prepare themselves!
2. Wash and clean mushrooms. Slice the mushrooms up.
3. Put butter in a saucepan, and then cook the mushrooms and onions on low heat for 10 minutes. Let the ‘shrooms savor the sauce.
4. Add the flour and mix together well.
5. Mix the evaporated milk and water together.
6. Add the milk mixture to the mushroom mixture. Heat and stir constantly until the soup thickens.
7. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes.
8. Add salt and pepper to taste. 
9. Serve warm. Garnish with chives, if preferred. 

I must say… it was an awesome experience to be able to create my perfect food from scratch! I should do better next time, though. It was a little bit bland. 😀 Oh well, there’s always a next time!
